Online networking for transcreators
Let’s Talk Transcreation
Are you a transcreator? Or interested in getting into this field?
Claudia Benetello and I are getting together to host an hour-long meetup for transcreators to connect and talk about the thing we love best and we’d love you to join.
The aim is to run the meetup on a quarterly basis. Subscribe to our Let’s Talk Transcreation email list and we’ll let you know when the next session runs.
The lowdown
How does it work?
It’ll be super informal. Depending on numbers, we’ll take it in turn to introduce ourselves to the room. If there are a lot of us we’ll skip this part and save the intros for the breakout rooms. We’ll then divide everyone into breakout rooms of 2 or 3 for a proper chat for 7 minutes or so.
After the allotted time, we’ll come back to the main room before doing the whole thing again. You’ll get the chance to chat to new colleagues or reacquaint yourself with existing ones.
What’s the point?
Our colleagues are an amazing source of support, inspiration and even opportunities. Let's get to know each other better so we can help even more international clients together.
Who can join?
Any language combo, any specialisation, whether you’re a seasoned transcreator, a multilingual copywriter or just curious about transcreation, everyone is welcome.
Do I need to prep?
Nope! Just turn up ready to chat.
Do I need to switch my camera on?
There’s no obligation to keep your camera on at the start and end of the session. However, we’d encourage you to turn your video on while you’re in a breakout room (it’s hard to chat to a black screen!). We’ll take a photo at the end but give you plenty of warning so you can turn your camera off if you need to.
About your hosts
Fuschia Hutton
Copywriter & Italian-to-English Transcreator
After a career in global marketing, I switched to translation in 2017. Early on, I decided to train as a copywriter too and was hooked - it was immediately obvious that copywriting - and also transcreation and SEO - skills would help the type of clients I wanted to work with. I usually write for international audiences and have a real soft spot for brands big on sustainability and brand voice. I love the power of the network, and getting to know other colleagues has led to some wonderful projects.
Claudia Benetello
Across 20+ years freelancing as Dropinka, I've co-translated U2's autobiography, interpreted for Noel Gallagher, interviewed Simple Minds, and crafted advertisements for world-famous brands through Italian origination or English/German to Italian transcreation. Since 2012, I've given transcreation workshops internationally, authored academic publications, and developed the Dropinka Deck (with a little help from Fuschia, who edited the content of the cards) to systematise transcreation methodology.

Transcreation vs translation
It’s an oldie, but I wrote this post a few years ago to explain the value of transcreation to potential clients.
