Website copywriting help for freelancers

Creating your first website, but staring a blank Word doc in the face?

A freelancer bites a pencil in frustration as she tries to nail her website copy for the hundredth time.

If you’re a translator, designer, consultant or other freelance professional, your network (or cold outreach if you’re brave) might have brought you as much work as you could handle so far. Which is amazing.

But there will come a point when you need your own website. People will Google you. LinkedIn or word-of-mouth referrals will look you up. If they don’t find anything you might be missing opportunities you never even find out about.

Maybe your freelance business didn’t need a website until now

But now you want to be more intentional about who you work with and the type of work you do.

A website can mean the difference between having to work with loose-fit clients who don’t value your specialist skills as much as they should and getting to work on pinch-me projects.

But when you’re living, sleeping and dreaming about your business every single day, writing your own website copy clearly and succinctly is actually really hard. (Been there. Done that.)

Web dev asking you for copy? Argh!!!

Hi, I’m Fuschia!

I’m a copywriter and transcreator and I’ve helped many freelancers nail their website copy. In fact, I’d say freelancers are hands down my favourite clients. (shhhhh – don’t tell the others!).

Since 2017, I’ve helped many lovely colleagues with:

  • fresh website copy

  • English transcreations of their Italian website copy

  • language and SEO editing of website pages they’ve written themselves

If you want to bring in inbound enquiries via search (or let’s face it, Chat GPT), then an SEO-friendly website is your best bet. I’ve seen this within my own business.

During the time I’ve had my own website, which I’ve optimised for some very specific niche keywords, I’ve had enquiries from hotels, sustainable beauty brands, authors, athletes and choccie companies.

Not all of them turn into full-blown projects. But all these brands and businesses found me through organic search.

To SEO or not to SEO?

Need a website with that website copy?

You can’t have copywriting for your freelancer website without an actual website.

If DIY isn’t for you, I’d recommend getting Websites For Translators on the case. Despite their name, you don’t have to be a translator to work with them – they also collaborate with other freelance professionals.

If you tell them I sent you their way, you’ll get a tasty 5% discount. (And I’ll also get a small referral commission).
