Website copywriting help for freelancers
Creating your first website, but staring a blank Word doc in the face?
If you’re a translator, designer, consultant or other freelance professional, your network (or cold outreach if you’re brave) might have brought you as much work as you could handle so far. Which is amazing.
But there will come a point when you need your own website. People will Google you. LinkedIn or word-of-mouth referrals will look you up. If they don’t find anything you might be missing opportunities you never even find out about.
Maybe your freelance business didn’t need a website until now
But now you want to be more intentional about who you work with and the type of work you do.
A website can mean the difference between having to work with loose-fit clients who don’t value your specialist skills as much as they should and getting to work on pinch-me projects.
But when you’re living, sleeping and dreaming about your business every single day, writing your own website copy clearly and succinctly is actually really hard. (Been there. Done that.)
Web dev asking you for copy? Argh!!!
Hi, I’m Fuschia!
I’m a copywriter and transcreator and I’ve helped many freelancers nail their website copy. In fact, I’d say freelancers are hands down my favourite clients. (shhhhh – don’t tell the others!).
Since 2017, I’ve helped many lovely colleagues with:
fresh website copy
English transcreations of their Italian website copy
language and SEO editing of website pages they’ve written themselves

Freelancer website copywriting packages
I can help bring you out of your writers’ block with my services especially designed for freelancers. I know you don’t need hundreds of product pages. You just need clear, concise pages that talk your customers through your services, introduce yourself as their go-to freelancer and make a connection.

If you want to bring in inbound enquiries via search (or let’s face it, Chat GPT), then an SEO-friendly website is your best bet. I’ve seen this within my own business.
During the time I’ve had my own website, which I’ve optimised for some very specific niche keywords, I’ve had enquiries from hotels, sustainable beauty brands, authors, athletes and choccie companies.
Not all of them turn into full-blown projects. But these projects came from organic search.
To SEO or not to SEO?
Need a website with that website copy?
You can’t have copywriting for your freelancer website without an actual website.
If DIY isn’t for you, I’d recommend getting Websites For Translators on the case. Despite their name, you don’t have to be a translator to work with them – they also collaborate with other freelance professionals.
If you mention my name you’ll get a tasty 5% discount. (Oh and I’ll also get a small commission).
Frequently asked questions
-
We’ll kick off our project with a questionnaire and call to discuss your goals. Depending on what these are, I’ll go away and then come back with a suggestion on how we can bring your website copy to life.
In my opinion, a freelancer website works best when you share something of your personality. After all, clients want to work with people they like and trust rather than robots. I’ll listen carefully to the words you use to describe your work, skills and ideal clients. I’ll then combine this with SEO and audience research to create website copy that explains what you do succinctly and with personality. -
These packages include one page for all your services, but for optimum SEO power, we could add a page for each service.
Your services page should describe what you do succinctly, through the eyes of your client. They want to know how you will help them get the results they want. I wouldn’t necessarily go into detail about all the tools you use, unless you can demonstrate how this makes your clients’ life easier or the results better.
You can also include information about your process, but again, I wouldn’t go into a lot of detail. Just keep it client-focused and focus on how your process makes their life easier. -
There could be a few reasons for this. Firstly, are people finding it, either through search engines, chatbots or social media? If not, then you’d want to look at the SEO and tweak some of the keywords, which is something I can help you with. You might be targeting keywords which are very competitive, so your freelancer website is less likely to be showing is search. Or you might be targeting keywords which no one is actually searching for.
If you are getting website visits but no enquiries, then there could be other issues. Is the language grammatically correct (especially if you have a website with more than one language)? Does it explain how you can help your clients clearly and without rambling? Do you have a contact page with either a form or another way to contact you? -
This is quite a common challenge! I’ve worked with freelancers to optimise just one page of their website for keywords. I’ve also run ad hoc SEO training to help colleagues conduct their own keyword research and optimise their website themselves.
Just get in touch and I can give you a tailored quote. -
No problem, and I’ve done this for several colleagues in the past. Sometimes you kind of know what you want to say but need a second opinion or a bit of a polish. Get in touch and we can chat about it.
